Patient Advocacy & Education Programs
During 2004, ORA supported arthritis education in Central Oregon by funding a community education program hosted by the Occupational Therapy Providers at CascadeHand Therapy, Inc. The four-session weekly series was open to any resident of Deschutes County by first-come, first-serve registration. The OTs provided information to improve the ways patients, and their family, friends, and caretakers managed living with rheumatic disease. Topics included:
- Living with RA
- Living with OA
- Travel tips for people with arthritis
- Tips for making life with arthritis easier
- Working [on-the-job] with arthritis
- Adaptive gardening
- Managing your fatigue
- Managing your activities
Classes were held at the Bend Senior Center.
